VALERIE OON

Treasurer

Valerie Oon is a Psychology Officer based in a public hospital in Melaka. She started in the public service in 2013 and transitioned into Clinical Psychology in 2021.

Her journey with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) began through exposure from a supportive supervisor and the book ACT Made Simple by Russ Harris. She finds ACT’s principles, such as mindfulness and values-based living, deeply resonant, both in her professional work and personal life, and sees strong alignment with her Christian faith. To enhance her skills, Valerie completed the TReK course organized by ACBS MY and participated in group supervision sessions with Kahmun and SueAnne.

She is also an active member of the ACT special interest group under the MOH Clinical Psychologist Profession Group, where she encourages peers to expand their ACT knowledge and skills. Additionally, Valerie has delivered ACT-aligned mental health talks in the community and government sectors, promoting it as a practical and transformative approach for building resilience and psychological flexibility. Committed to ongoing growth, she strives to help patients thrive despite life’s challenges.
