Lim Re Gal
Student Representative
Lim Re Gal is a licensed counsellor in private practice and a PhD (Counselling) student at UNIMAS, Sarawak. Her research focuses on developing and evaluating a culturally relevant Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)-based group intervention for Chinese Malaysian parents of children with special healthcare needs. Re Gal actively disseminates her ACT-related research through publications and conference presentations. Her work is driven by a commitment to making these interventions accessible and efficacious for local communities.
Re Gal has received ACT training across various focus areas from multiple trainers. She has applied ACT principles in individual and group counselling, community initiatives, and corporate training since 2021. As a Human Resource Development Corporation (HRDC) accredited trainer, she integrates ACT into her corporate workshops to enhance workplace well-being. In addition to her counselling practice, Re Gal is a registered audiologist who supports individuals experiencing tinnitus and hearing difficulties.
On a personal level, ACT has influenced her journey, guiding her through professional transitions, her PhD research, and personal growth. It has supported her to take value-aligned actions despite external obstacles and internal challenges. As she climbs her own mountain, she is dedicated to supporting clients as they navigate their climbs and stay true to their values.
