President’s Address 2023

March 2023

Dear colleagues, friends, and fellow members,

As we enter the second term of our chapter’s journey, I would like to take a moment to reflect on our shared vision and outline the direction we hope to take moving forward.

Our chapter has always stood as a platform for connection, learning, and growth within the field of contextual behavioural science (CBS). In this next chapter of our work, we aim to focus our energy on strengthening the local pool of practitioners—both in terms of skillsets and visibility—while continuing to grow awareness and interest in CBS across Malaysia.

One key strategy will be building stronger collaborations with local organisations. Since our formation, we have successfully conduct various activities with different institutes. Activities like these not only make CBS more accessible but also reflect our commitment to culturally relevant and locally led learning. We plan continue and expand this strategy to work together with more local organisations.

We will also be working to feature more of our members’ contributions—whether through recorded talks, live chats, or written reflections—on our media platforms. By doing so, we aim to amplify Malaysian voices in CBS and offer a platform for members to inspire and learn from one another.

Another avenue we will continue to support is the development of our Education Fund. This fund exists to empower our members to pursue further training and deepen their knowledge, and we encourage all who are interested to explore it.

Importantly, we want to nurture our local talents toward greater recognition, including providing resources and guidance for practitioners who wish to become the first Peer-Reviewed Trainer in Malaysia. This is an ambitious yet achievable goal, and our chapter is here to support every step of that journey.

At the heart of our work is a desire to be responsive to the needs of our members. Whether it’s creating more spaces for dialogue, offering relevant training, or advocating for the local relevance of CBS, our chapter is committed to serving and growing alongside you. As Kelly Wilson reminds us, we are better together than we are alone — and when we move as a community toward a values-driven direction, it becomes not only effective, but deeply fulfilling. Feeling the presence of a community walking alongside us is, in itself, one of the most beautiful things we can experience in life.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we can continue building a thriving, culturally grounded CBS community in Malaysia.
